Class #1:
- conversation on how Tim sets up his still lifes as he shows you what to aim for and to avoid during this crucial, initial stage of making still lifes. You'll be shown pitfalls and solutions to common mistakes. As with every lesson with Tim, vocabulary and terms will be a huge part.and final critiques. where assignments, videos, and student work will be posted and commented on by Tim.
From a blank tabletop & set-up, Tim will begin with a blank canvas and show he starts with drawing and massing in with thinned paint. From this initial stage he'll move into some near accurate color. This will conclude the first lesson.
Class #2:
- Tim will resume the lesson on a dry canvas so that the student can follow along step by step with the teacher. Tim will spend time in certain passages and strive to actually complete certain parts of the painting. He will begin to show knife and brushwork as well as palette points in this lesson.
Class #3:
- Tim will show how to begin to lace together the whole and check for unity. Portions will now certainly be painted to the final stage. Oiling up will be shown in the opening minutes of this class. This class focuses on editing and artist's choices.
Class #4:
- wrapping up. The work will be completed in this session. Tim will address how to create focal points and "knock down" areas which should not diminish from the center of interest. This is also the point in the work for expressive, rich, knife and brushwork.
This is a basic outline for content Tim wants to cover. Based on the postings of Level II students in Class #101, he may add to or change the order of information presented.
