Margaret graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a diploma of art and, later, from the University of London with an art teachers' certificate. She is an elected member of the Pastel Society of America while being involved with other societies including Pastel Artists of Canada and Pastel Society of France. Margaret is considered to be of the UK's top teaching professionals, running art workshops and painting holidays throughout the world. She has also written several art books published by David & Charles and Harper Collins.
Margaret is now working on her own work full-time and exhibiting work throughout Scotland and abroad. Developing the public's image of pastel work, she uses pastel with wet and dry techniques, as well as gouache, watercolour, and oils
Renowned for her pastel painting, Margaret also tutors watercolours, oils, acrylics and other media. She is internationally known for her portraits in oil and pastel and is a member of the Portrait Society of America, featuring regularly in the International Artist magazine.
Shinafoot in Scotland is Margaret's home base and venue for her workshops. Situated between Perth and Stirling, and a hours drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports, it is easily accessible. |
