It is our belief that being an 'artist' is a huge umbrella that encompasses hundreds of art forms, not just painting. But since this is the 'painting' section of MyAT, focus is on painting.
It is our desire to minimize the fear some have about making a mark on paper, and as you can see from the definitions below being a 'painter' or 'artist' covers a wide range of possibilities.
Just to make sure we are all on the same playing field, I'm including a few definitions:
Paint-ing: n. 1. The process, art, or occupation of coating surfaces with paint for a utilitarian or artistic effect. 2. A picture or design in paint.
Painting: the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a surface (support base). In art, the term describes both the act and the result, which is called a painting.
Painter: an artist who paints

Artist: One who makes their craft a fine art
One who cultivates one of the fine arts - traditionally the arts presided over by the muses - now the dominant usage
SO, pick an instructor, choose a class and begin what just might be a journey into a new life!
