How do I purchase a class?

Several ways: Select by tutor, medium, genre, time/price. Master Workshops are the longest and most intense; Passport Series are more focused by topic. Clicking on the Tutor button takes you to a page where all tutors are listed. Choose one, and be taken to their page that shows ALL the classes they currently have. Click on any "More" button for full class description...one more click on the "Start Now" button takes you to our secure, Paypal shopping cart.

A simple registration and quick Paypal confirmation, and you are sent a .pdf file with detailed information. As soon as we are able to finalize your password protected registration with VoiceThread, you are ready to begin!

What can I expect from a Virtual ArtCation™?

Visit with students from all over the world...any time you are avaialble. Classes have no set time for beginning or ending...you can work at your own pace! Study from home and your own studio with tutors who live all over the world...Scotland, France, Australia, as well as points in the US.

Basically, our tutors are offering content based on their traditional workshops and classes. Some workshops are 'themed' i.e. 'How to Abstract a Landscape from Photography'; 'How to Paint a Simple Still Life'; etc. The amount of content and teacher interaction is based on what you would receive from a workshop with 20-24 students...however, our goal is to add to that.

What about materials?
If there are specific materials necessary for your full experience, they will be listed on the page with the details about the class. In some cases, a general assortment of pigments will suffice, in other cases the exact pigment and brand may be necessary to accomplish exactly what the tutor does. Besides a full list posted with the class, you will be able to access a personal shopping cart to a major art supplier online that contains that tutor's list. You have the opportunity to select which items you need and have the order shipped direct to you.

What if I am not familiar with the tutor?
We give links to each Tutor's personal website, as well as some basic information on the MyArtTutor site. Studying in this manner gives you a good idea what to expect if you have the opportunity to study in person with one of our Tutors on location in a traditional workshop. Each are masters in their field.

How much time will the class take?

As much or as little as you want. The Passport Series is a great way to experiment with a new techniques...we give an estimate of workshop length, if you were to watch/read in one session. Of course, working on your assignments, asking questions, etc., will give you a more in-depth learning experience.

Remember that one of the huge advantages of virtual learning is that you can do everything at your own pace!

Can I study with my own art group and local teacher?
Of course! These requests will be handled on an individual basis. In general, a local teacher or art group can go together and have a private study group...each tutor will have different minimum student requirements, and usually will offer a discount to the local teacher. Again, that is predicated on how many students are in the group. Email us so we can work out the details.

What are the advantages with MyArtTutor?
Studying from your own studio relieves much of the pressure present in a temporary space. You will have none of the expenses associated with traditional workshops…drive-time, lunches, time off from work/family, etc. You will save time, wear, and tear on moving and setting up a painting space somewhere else.
